Your Input Helps Us Build Better Career Opportunities

At IBEW Local 401, we know that education is the foundation of a strong and sustainable electrical workforce. The skills you develop today help you stay competitive, safe, and prepared for the jobs of tomorrow. That’s why we’re asking for your input through the JATC CEU Interest Survey—so we can offer continuing education classes that reflect what our members truly need.

Whether you’re brushing up on code updates, learning about the latest technologies, or fulfilling licensing requirements, Continuing Education Units (CEUs) play a crucial role in your professional journey.

What Are CEUs & Why Do They Matter For Electricians In Nevada?

CEUs are short, focused courses that help electricians maintain certifications and licenses. They cover essential topics such as:

  • National Electrical Code (NEC) updates
  • Safety procedures and OSHA standards
  • Renewable energy systems
  • Advanced controls and smart technology
  • Grounding and bonding
  • Fire alarm and low-voltage systems

In many cases, completing CEUs is mandatory to renew your state or local electrician license. But even beyond compliance, CEUs help you stay current in a rapidly evolving industry—boosting your confidence, job performance, and career longevity.

Training Through the Northern Nevada Electrical Training Center

All CEU classes for IBEW 401 members are hosted through the Northern Nevada Electrical Training Center, our premier facility for both apprentices and journeymen. Located in Reno, this state-of-the-art center offers hands-on labs, classroom instruction, and digital learning resources.

Through the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC), our union develops and delivers training that aligns with local workforce needs. From new construction projects to service calls in high-tech facilities, JATC training helps you adapt and excel.

Why The CEU Survey Matters For IBEW 401 Members

The CEU Interest Survey is your opportunity to shape the upcoming course schedule. By sharing what topics you’d like to see offered, how often you’re available, and which formats you prefer (in-person, online, evenings, weekends), the JATC can design classes that better serve you.

This is especially helpful for:

  • Journeymen who want to broaden their skill sets
  • Those preparing for license renewal deadlines
  • Members interested in certifications for specialty work
  • Electricians looking to become instructors or mentors

The more responses we get, the better we can meet demand and ensure classes are well-attended and worthwhile.

How to Participate

It only takes a few minutes, and your input could help determine which classes are offered next quarter.
